Idea 10 : Photographers CMS
Idea 10 : Photographers CMS
The last thing most photographers want to think about is their website and content management system. We want to be shooting more pictures and doing the things we like doing. Figuring out how to shoe horn Wordpress into working with your photos is not ideal for most of us, using squarespace is a pretty good option and will be hard to beat. That said I did use a photography based CMS once that I really loved, it was called Koken. I’d love to learn from Koken and re-create some of it’s coolest parts.
Idea 9 : Client Side SSP II
Idea 9 : Client Side SSP II
So I poked some holes in my own client side SSP idea yesterday and I went back to the think through the details. So what went wrong?
Idea 8 : Client Side SSP
Idea 8 : Client Side SSP
Take for granted I don’t have business model for this and it would likely fail because of ad blocking software but I like the idea! Most ad tags happen with an HTTP call and with the advent of the SSP and DSP landscape then server then gets that call and repeats it to many players, ultimately ending with an auction to see who wins.
Idea 7 : Custom Printing and Cutting Outsroucing
Idea 7 : Custom Print and Cutting Outsourcing
Not your standard print from a printer here the bases on that seem to be covered. What we’ve run into time and time again is that you want something 3-d printed in bulk or with a type of printer you don’t have, how do you get this done? There are some high end services here but nothing I’ve found to be good quality and reasonable price. What about if you want to specific cuts of chip board or something else that maybe a laser cutter could do. Lots of people have glowforge cutters or 3-d printers that are sitting and gathering dust, could we setup a way for more of these machines to be put to good use?
Idea 6 : Native App and Website Builder
Idea 6 : Native App and Website Builder
I know lots of companies that are not putting up better apps or websites because it’s difficult and expensive. Can we make it simpler to build a website and app in one for small businesses that don’t have a big budget for both? There are plenty of companies that make websites easy and some that make app’s but I’ve not seen anyone successfully pull off doing both and making it just work.
Idea 5 : Present Tracker and Wishlist
Idea 5 : Present Tracker and Wishlist
I’ve historically been bad about remembering what we got for all our nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters and parents. Do you know how awkward it is to give them same person the same or very similar a gift from one year to the next. This tool would allow you to create lists of people in your life and then keep track of what you got them year over year. It would make sense to also incorporate into this a wish list or idea list per person too even though those are a dime a dozen around the internet.
Idea 4 : Niche Blog Directory
Idea 4 : Niche Blog Directory
Do you have a topic you like to follow or a list of sites you like to visit on a subject. Let’s create some niche directories where we’ll ingest the content of those sites, index them and provide a good search experience. Each niche we create and curate will have it’s own subdomain, search and index features. Longer term perhaps we could allow customers to create their own niches.
Idea 3 : Photography Gear Picker
Idea 3 : Photography Gear Picker
My thought would be this idea could play multiple roles for users and has a few options for generating revenue. Have you ever been on a photographers site, blog or YouTube to see them calling out the gear they are using? Have you been pining over the gear you want and you’d like to keep track of the prices and availability? This is the tool for you, build a list of gear you have or a list of gear you want.
Idea 2 : User Friendly Dashboards
Idea 2 : User Friendly Dashboards
What do you do if you have a complex application with lots of data spread across multiple database tables and you have some users who need access to this data, don’t have the chops to pull the data and you don’t have a budget to hire someone to do this work for you? There are good tools on the market but what if we can make something simple, self hosted and all on your own systems or even your laptop?
